About Stockton-on-Tees

Overview

With beautiful riverside backdrops and benefitting from significant investment, the historic market town of Stockton-On-Tees in County Durham is a great destination for business travellers.

In the northeast of England in County Durham, some 250 miles from London, is the sizeable town of Stockton-on-Tees. Originally a market town, visitors to serviced apartments in Stockton-on-Tees will find that it is still one of the main retail centres in the region. The town centre boasts two shopping centres, at Castlegate and Wellington Square, while also having the widest high street in the UK. Millions of pounds of development in recent years are paying off and benefitting the town enormously, and work continues with the development of the north bank of the River Tees.

If they are lucky, visitors to Stockton-on-Tees serviced apartments may be there for the annual Stockton International Riverside Festival, one of the largest festivals in Europe, that brings over 250,000 people into the town. There is also the Stockton Weekender Festival, a music festival held each summer. Other things to do include the theatre, with a number of theatres in the town, as well as water sports at the Castlegate Quay Watersports Centre and the Tees Barrage International White Water Centre. Since the Tees Barrage was finished in 1995, the river has been artificially held at high tide as it passes through the town, perfect for water activities and as a backdrop for the events held there.
