About St. Johns Wood

Overview

An area of tree-lined avenues, popular with the wealthy and well-known, St John's Wood is a lovely area of the capital with quick access to the centre. Even St Johns Wood temporary housing can be utilised for both commuters to London, and tourists to the district.

In the northwest of London, within a minutes walk of Regent’s Park, business travellers coming to stay in serviced apartments in St John’s Wood will probably note just how green it is for an area so close to the central London. As might be expected, therefore, the area is known as one of London’s most affluent neighbourhoods. Housing in St John's Wood is relatively low density for London, with a mix of grand mansions and Regency houses, as well as some more modest suburban semis. Where there have been recent buildings, it tends to be in a contemporary and exclusive style.

Once quite bohemian and popular with artists, the district is nowadays somewhat of a haven for celebrities. The American School in London also means that there is sizable American community. St John’s Wood has its own tube station on the Jubilee Line, making the centre and Thames area easy to access. Nearby attractions include Abbey Road studios, where The Beatles recorded, and also London Zoo. The town centre offers much to do as well, particularly along St Johns Wood high street. There are an array of St Johns Wood restaurants, pubs, bars and entertainment venues around to keep visitors occupied and give them a place to socialise.

Unsurprisingly, property prices in the area are extremely high, even for London, and this also translates to the rental market, with a 2014 survey determining that residents paid the highest average rent in London. With apartments just minutes away from the underground station, this makes our St John’s Wood serviced apartments a sensible solution for staying longer in the area.

Transport

London City Airport (LCY)

Being a London district, St Johns Wood profits from being no further than an hour’s drive from a major airport, London City (LCY). Corporates can venture from the comfort of their St Johns Wood extended stay apartments and take a short journey east to the airport, granting them connections to destinations across the globe.

St John's Wood Underground Station

Within the small area that makes up the district, there is just one underground station, unsurprisingly named St John’s Wood. It functions on the Jubilee line as the stop between Swiss Cottage and Baker Street.

Alternative tube stations include Maida Vale, Edgware Road, Warwick Avenue, Royal Oak, all south of St John’s Wood, whilst Kilburn Park, West Hampstead and Belsize Park are all north of the district.

By Train

It’s tricky to distinguish the closest train station to St John’s Wood. What we do know is that southeast of the district is the popular Marylebone train station, near the Sherlock Holmes Museum. Otherwise, there is the West Hampstead Thameslink, based on the Midland Main Line.

Visitors to the district can choose to stay in St Johns Wood short term accommodation in whichever corner of the area to be near train stations that suit them.
