Stays in Seattle are truly unique. Its geographical make-up is certainly unlike pretty much any other US city, situated on the Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest, the North American region of the Pacific Ocean. The city is wedged on a small inlet between vast mountainous areas; the Baker-Snoqualmie mountain to the right and the Olympic National Park to the left. The entire western border of Seattle looks out onto Lake Washington.
This is all in the north-western region of the state of Washington, of which Seattle is the most populous city. This also makes Seattle the most northernmost major city in the United States. The population of around 750,000, fit on a city landmass that stretches almost 150 square miles.
Despite its unique location, tucked into the top left corner of the United States, Seattle is still easy to reach. By car, Seattle is connected via the Interstate 5, 90 and 405 highways. The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in the south of the city is ideal for those visiting from overseas or further afield in the US. Just know though, wherever you need to be in the city, we have extended stay, luxury apartments in Seattle ready to cater for any of your business or accommodation needs.
The Seattle economy is very diverse and welcoming of new enterprises and businesses. Long have there only been a couple of industries that have kept the local economy stable, such as transportation and aerospace (unsurprising considering Seattle is the home of the Boeing headquarters), but now, the development of manufacturing, technological and research sectors have seen the city become more and more inclusive.
The rising value of the Port of Seattle and the ongoing support for start-up schemes has also opened up more opportunities in what is already the hub of business in Washington. The Port of Seattle is one of the most important trade connections in the country, linked to Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico, whilst also being the 2nd largest handler of container cargo in the US. As for the start-up scene, Seattle has ranked amongst the top 10 “global start-up ecosystems” according to a report provided by Startup Genome. This was based on factors such as performance, market reach, connectivity. Infrastructure and funding. The setup of ‘Startup Seattle’ also offers new businesses with valuable resources, such as information about networking events and potential benefits.
Those corporates who are still undecided about relocating to the ‘Emerald City’ will also take encouragement from the fact that Forbes has in the past ranked the city as the ‘best place for business’ in the United States.

Seattle is undoubtedly a one-of-a-kind US city. As we know, geographically, the city is distinctive, but within its borders, there are plenty of wonderful sights and unique things to do. The main attraction everyone thinks of when they picture Seattle is the famous Space Needle. Standing at over 600 ft tall, the city landmark has been up since the 1962 World Fair, which was enjoyed by over two million people at the time. Nowadays, around 3,500 visit the needle every day, taking elevators to the observation deck and appreciating the wonderful Seattle skyline. It is located just on the bottom edge of Uptown and is well worth a visit if you get a chance.
The Space Needle may seem like a modern-day attraction, but in actuality, it is one of the older landmarks which has seen plenty of modern development emerge around it. The Museum of Pop Culture, the Chihuly Garden and Glass and the Seattle Art Museum are great examples of this. Combined they offer a great perspective of modern history, recent cultures and local creativity. The latter of the three is just outside the Central Business District and near to one of the longest standing spots in the city. The Pike Place Market opened back in 1907 and remains amongst the oldest continuously running US public farmer’s markets, welcoming around ten million visitors every year. There’s so much to see there, whether it be unique collectable shops, antique dealers, quaint restaurants, fresh food stands or even little craft stalls; there’s something for everyone.
Scenic spots to enjoy include the Olympic Sculpture Park and the Discovery Park, a short drive north of the Seattle city centre. Visitors say that the parks are the “best places to watch the sunset in Seattle” and they are not wrong. Both locations have large areas where you can sit down and relax, as well as walking trails such as the National Recreation Trail at Discovery Park. The Sculpture Park has a fascinating, free outdoor museum which is well worth pottering around too.
All in all, Seattle has a great mix of iconic landmarks and smaller cultural sights which make the visitor experience inclusive of everyone. The key to seeing it all though is booking a long stay in a fully furnished apartment in Seattle, right in the city centre and within walking distance of everything there is to see.
Fortunately, Seattle is blessed with great aviation options, making travel to and from serviced apartments in Seattle straightforward, whether the flight is international or domestic. The main facility is the Seattle Tacoma International Airport. It is based on International Boulevard around 15 miles south of downtown Seattle and serves around 50 million travellers each year.
An alternative option, perhaps for more business-tailored flights, is the King County International Airport. It’s publicly owned and is instead only a ten-minute drive from the Seattle city centre. There’s only around 180,000 operating from King County each year, but it does offer multi-billion-dollar support to local businesses.
The railway network in Seattle is considerably diverse and multi-faceted. Together, the Link Light Rail system, the general commuter service and the Seattle Centre Monorail network enable travel across the city centre, throughout the downtown areas, to the airports and multiple universities. They allow visitors to utilise any level of railway service – and we especially recommend Monorail if you are after a complexly unique experience which gives passengers a lovely look over the city.
Ultimately, the variety of railway service means to travel to and from our long and short term apartments in Seattle throughout the city is never too long-winded. For more information on public transport in Seattle, be sure to take a look at the Visit Seattle website.
