Hong Kong is a centre for business and banking in East Asia, and is one of the most densely populated places on the planet. That's why Sai Ying Pun, a little west of the main business district and with just a little more sense of space, can be a great place for corporate travellers to stay.
Sai Ying Pun, in the north-western part of Hong Kong Island, is where the early British military had a camp, something which is incorporated into the district’s name. This area of Hong Kong is up and coming, a great place for business travellers to stay with a notable array of restaurants, bars and cafes. This historic area of the city has always come alive at night but, whereas once it was perhaps the more adventurous visitor who would join almost exclusively ‘locals’ here for a night out, those coming to serviced apartments in Sai Ying Pun will now find a much more cosmopolitan neighbourhood.
More than just a collection of places to eat and drink, Sai Ying Pun also houses other ‘cool’ attractions, such as the Above Second contemporary art gallery. Those that make it to Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park early enough in the morning, might find the locals practicing tai chi, and will find Sai Ying Pun’s most happening green space an ideal spot to relax and enjoy stunning views out across the water. The University of Hong Kong and the University Museum and Art gallery lie just beyond Sai Ying Pun’s south-western-most point.
