A purpose-built business district on the outskirts of Paris, La Défense plays an important part in the city's commercial activity, and is a much-visited business destination in France.
La Défense is a business district just to the west of Paris, France. It is Europe’s largest purpose-built business district, with close to two-hundred thousand people coming to work there each day. It’s little wonder, then, that there is a demand for serviced apartments in La Défense, and at Situ we have a large number of aparthotel options available for the corporate traveller coming to the area. The district is situated at one end of the ‘Historical Axis’ of Paris, a ten-kilometre long line linking some of the city’s most famous historical sites.
Both a monument and a functional office building, La Grande Arche de la Défense was conceived as a modern version of the Arc de Triomphe. Although the top is unfortunately no longer accessible to the public, it’s still well worth coming to view this most unusual of buildings, perhaps to eat lunch on the vast steps that lead up to its centre. La Défense has two metro stations, La Défense and Esplanade de la Défense, and can also be reached by an over ground train connection.
