Originally part of Essex, Ilford only became a part of Greater London in 1965 with the restructuring of local government in the United Kingdom. Today it is officially in East London in the borough of Redbridge. Ilford is four miles south of Chigwell and nine miles east of the City of London.
Ilford can be accessed via the M1, M11 at junction 27 then the A406 (North Circular).

If you want to get here by Tube then take the Central Line and get off at Gants Hill for the town centre. This takes around 30 minutes from London and the stop is just a mile from Ilford Train Station. Barkingside is another tube stop for Ilford.
London is just 25 mins from Ilford by bus (25). Other routes involve taking the 123, 128, 179, 425, 86 and W19 buses. There is no bus station in Ilford but buses can be accessed via three main stops – at The Exchange, on the High Road, and Ilford Broadway.
