About Highgate

Overview

Once a village just outside of London, Highgate has retained a charming, almost provincial feel despite having long ago been absorbed into the London metropolis, and this makes it a very special part of the UK's capital city.

Highgate is one of the most sought-after and expensive London suburbs and has long been a popular area with well-known creative individuals. Right next to Hampstead Heath, and with Alexandra Palace just to the northwest, Highgate is surrounded by beauty, of both the natural and architectural sort.

Of particular architectural note is the famous Highgate Cemetery. Business travellers coming to serviced apartments in Highgate, or anywhere, for that matter, might not think that a cemetery should be high on their list of places to visit while they are there, yet Highgate Cemetery is most definitely an exception. A fashionable place to be buried since Victorian times, it includes impressive mausoleums, some of which are Grade I listed and is the burial place of the socialist philosopher Karl Marx. Some areas are specially protected and can only be visited on a tour. Outside of these tours, visitors to the area have an abundance of Highgate pubs, restaurants and shops at their disposal of which they can visit.

Highgate station lies in Zone 3 on the Northern Line, with Leicester Square only about 20 minutes away on the tube, which makes Highgate’s ‘village’ feel all the more remarkable and serviced apartments in Highgate a superb choice for those staying longer in London.
