About Falkirk

Overview

A perfectly located commuter town in central Scotland, Falkirk is well placed to serve both Edinburgh and Glasgow, while having enough services to satisfy the needs of those who need to stay longer in the area.

The town of Falkirk is ideally located at a roughly equal distance between Glasgow and Edinburgh, Scotland’s two main cities. Business travellers coming to stay in serviced apartments in Falkirk give themselves easy access to both cities, with the M9 leading southeast to Edinburgh about 23 miles away, and the M80 heading southwest for about 20 miles to Glasgow. With two mainline railway stations and even canal routes to its larger neighbours, Falkirk is an ideal place to stay.

As one would expect of a commuter town, Falkirk’s economy is based around retail and services. The town has the supermarkets and main high street retailers that you would expect – indeed, a good selection for a town of just 35,000 people – as well as a fair number of independent boutique-type shops on its pedestrianised High Street and in its two shopping centres. Public sector employers include Falkirk Council, the Child Support Agency (CSA), the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the National Health Service (NHS).

While staying in Falkirk serviced apartments, travellers should take the time to see the ‘The Kelpies’, two 30-metre high horse head sculptures located on the Helix parkland project, built to connect Falkirk’s 16 communities around the district.
