Where is Dallas?

Dallas is the third-largest city of Texas. It lies in the northeastern part of the state and is home to 1.3 million citizens. It’s often merged with its nearest neighbour of Forth Worth, which lies only 30 miles to the west.

The state border with Oklahoma is 70 miles to the north via Interstate 35. Use IS 35 for Austin and San Antonio in the south, and follow the IS 45 to Houston. The IS 20 crosses the city from east to west and takes you to Louisiana and the Mexican border.

American English is spoken here, and you may notice a broad southern accent as well. The US dollar is the currency for all transactions, but currency exchange services are available at the airports and the main hotels.

Invest in Dallas

Dallas opens new perspectives for large enterprises and small businesses alike. The city is the third-largest focal point of Fortune 500 companies in the USA. Ten major corporations have chosen Dallas as their headquarters, including the communications giant AT&T, Exxon mobile, and American Airlines.

The economy of Dallas is centred mainly around telecommunications and IT, medical research and healthcare, banking, and transportation. Small- and medium-sized businesses thrive in these industries thanks to the proximity of the big players and the trickle-down effect they cause.

Texas is known for its business-friendly legislation and tax system. It’s a great place for potential employers and job seekers alike. Several quality universities provide a highly qualified workforce. Dallas offers excellent opportunities for career starters as it shows the largest jobs growth trend in the state.

Unemployment in Dallas is below the national average, and the main employers in the city are IT and tech, defence, and financial services. At present, Dallas employs almost 50% of national IT and tech staff. Dallas is also known as the largest US manufacturer of telecommunications equipment. Oil and gas are the dominating industries in neighbouring Fort Worth.

The local government’s main objective is the constant improvement of the business environment, which is achieved through development projects and revision of the city’s administrative practices.

Whatever your plans for business, select a Situ serviced apartment in Dallas for a flexible and private space to help you make the most of your time here.

Things To Do in Dallas

Dallas is a true melting point of the south, making it a perfect place to live if you prefer a diverse cultural scene and lifestyle options.

In terms of the arts, there’s a wealth of opportunities for opera and classical music lovers, as well as comedy and dance enthusiasts. Regular music, opera, and dance shows are held in the AT&T Performing arts centre. Music festivals and concerts are held at unique venues throughout the city. Most popular bands readily include Dallas in their US tour programmes.

Alternatively, enjoy the amazing outdoors and the opportunities that Dallas offers for leisure and adventure. The city has over 42 square miles of open green spaces, parks, and greenways. Add to this neighbouring Fort Worth, and the green space available becomes enormous.

White Rock Lake offers water sports from kayaking to fishing. Sports fans will be delighted to catch a baseball game at the Arlington Stadium or watch the Dallas Cowboys American football team at their home stadium.

The downside of this is the fact that Dallas is not suitable for walking. Getting around is best by car, and it may take hours to drive across the city. For the more ecologically minded, Dallas has a system of public transport as well.

Living costs in Dallas are relatively low. Housing prices and rents are reasonable compared to other business hotspots such as New York or San Francisco, and even other major cities in Texas. Salaries are as high as the national average, but there is no state income tax at all, and the state sales tax is just over 8%.

Those relocating here might find our self-catering accommodation in Dallas to be a great option while settling and searching for a longer-term home.
