About Croydon

Overview

Here at SITU, we pride ourselves on be able to offer the best quality serviced accommodation in Croydon, the wider London area and beyond.

Croydon – otherwise known as the London Borough of Croydon, depending on whether you are talking about the wider area or the town itself – is in South London, a little under 10 miles south of Charing Cross. With three principal train stations, the town beautifully links the centre of London with areas on the south coast like Brighton, and is therefore an ideal point for commuters or business travellers coming to stay in Croydon serviced apartments.

The problem with commuter towns, is that they are often not very interesting in and of themselves. We would argue that Croydon has more to offer than many commuter towns and does a good job of balancing being a London suburb with having its own individual identity. For one thing, Croydon is home to Crystal Palace football club and their well-known stadium Selhurst Park. More than this, Croydon has an excellent array of sporting facilities; there is of course the renowned Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, an iconic athletics stadium, then there are four swimming pools, two championship golf courses – in addition to a range of smaller ones – and South Norwood Lake brings sailing and canoeing into the outdoor activities equation. Beyond this, there are over 2600 acres of parkland, along with nature reserves and more – plenty to keep the outdoor enthusiast visiting city apartments in Croydon happy during their stay.

Of course, not everyone is outdoor mad and perhaps you, like many people, enjoy the – almost as – simple pleasures of shopping, eating out, catching a movie and perhaps visiting a few nightspots. Croydon stands out in this respect is, too. The Whitgift Centre is the third largest shopping mall in London, and plans to combine it with the Centrale Shopping Centre opposite, into what will be a new Westfield Centre, could see it become the second biggest shopping centre in the UK.  Also, just out of town, is the Valley Park Retail, as well as also boasting a large collection of stores, also has a cinema, a 25-lane bowling alley, many restaurants and more.

Perhaps also useful during a short stay in Croydon, is the Tramlink system, the only tram service in London, which serves Croydon and the surrounding area. Although, on the subject of transport, it’s impossible to talk about accommodation in Croydon and not mention London Gatwick Airport, the U.K.’s second largest airport only to Heathrow. This major international airport lies about 15 miles roughly south of Croydon, mainly connected by the fast routes of the A23 and M23, which is a part of what makes Croydon aparthotel’s and apartments such a popular destination for international travellers coming to the London area.

Here at Situ, we pride ourselves on be able to offer the best quality serviced accommodation in Croydon, the wider London area and beyond.
