Castle Donington sits at the north-western edge of the county of Leicestershire, in the East Midlands. It shares a border with Derbyshire and is a mere eight miles from the city of Derby itself.
The picturesque village, which is indeed named after a former castle and which is now a mere mound – is just four miles from the M1 motorway. Other major roads nearby include the A42 and A50.
This makes it equally accessible to other nearby counties such as Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire, as well as London and other major road networks. In fact, it’s only 14.5 miles from Nottingham and 14.6 miles from Stoke-on-Trent.
The town, formerly famous for ‘Donington Lace’ boasts Georgian, Regency, and even Tudor homes and was Leicestershire’s first-ever Conservation town.
Pegasus Business Park is a huge industrial park which sits on the outskirts of Castle Donington and is the home of many large international and global companies. Only recently SEGRO’s new flagship logistics park welcomed Kuehne & Nagel. Bringing 300 jobs to the area the company’s warehouse includes a 40,000 sq ft temperature-controlled area for pharmaceutical products, offices, and staff amenities.
The East Midlands is also home to the Golden Triangle. So-called because of its abundance of distribution facilities, particularly for the retail industry. There is, in fact, a phenomenal 150 million square feet of warehouse space in the Midlands.
It’s owned by companies such as Marks and Spencer, Disney, Asda, and Tesco. The reason is the East Midland’s easy access to main motorways, railways, airports, and sea ports.
East Midlands Airport is also a large employer, supporting around 6,000 jobs and flying around four million passengers to up to 80 destinations on an annual basis.

Outside the village there is the East Midlands Aeropark. This fascinating aviation museum boasts a collection of historic planes. There is also a range of famous Rolls Royce engines and a Bristol Hercules to see up close while the brave can enjoy a trip in a plane simulator.
East Midlands Airport is a mere four miles away (or a seven-minute taxi journey). The my15 bus also runs direct from Castle Donington to the airport every hour from 5am to midnight, seven days a week.
The nearest rail station to Castle Donington is at Long Eaton (4.3 miles away). It’s possible to get a taxi here in seven minutes. A further seven minutes by train (every twenty minutes) takes you into Derby.
National Express run coaches from Nottingham to Castle Donington, taking around 30 minutes. Derby (Victoria Street Station) by Midlands Classic bus is slightly longer, at 44 minutes and only goes as far as East Midlands Airport.
