Canberra Airport is five miles north of the city centre. From here, you can fly to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart, Gold Coast, Perth, Darwin, and Cairns.
The only international destinations served are Singapore and Doha in Qatar, so to get to Canberra from overseas, it’s likely you will change at another Australian airport.
There are several departures per day for the four-hour journey to Sydney, including one overnight sleeper train. There are also several trains per day to Goulburn, where you can change for the main Melbourne-Sydney route. However, the main city station is in the suburb of Kingston, some four miles south-east of the city centre.
Canberra has an eight-mile light rail route with 13 stops between Alinga Street in the city centre and the suburb of Gungahlin. Trains run every six minutes at peak times and no less than every 30 minutes at other times, until 11pm.
The Rapid Routes operate every 15 minutes to key destinations in and around the city. There are also many more services, typically half-hourly, serving Canberra and its suburbs. On weekdays, there is a half-hourly service to the airport.
