Why Choose Serviced Apartments in Calgary?

There are certainly many accommodation options in the central location of Calgary, but not all these might meet the expectations of corporate visitors.

Situ’s serviced apartments in Calgary, on the other hand, could be what you are looking for if you find the experience of staying in a hotel room or B&B somewhat underwhelming.

Fully equipped with modern kitchens, comfortable bedrooms, and free wi-fi, our furnished corporate housing in Calgary is designed to make guests feel at home. Many of our apartments also offer free on-site parking, housekeeping, and laundry services, some of them even pet friendly.

We source only the best long term or short term apartment rentals in Calgary or downtown Calgary, confident that they stand comparison with the hotels and B&Bs in the city. You could even source an aparthotel in Calgary for your short term rental, where you’ll find the comforts of home and convenience of a serviced apartment with fully furnished and the facilities of a hotel, such as a reception, business meeting rooms, or even a gym.

When travelling for business, you should have a genuine ‘home-away-from-home’ experience and our business accommodation in Calgary is designed to deliver just that.

Where is Calgary?

Calgary is in a stunning location 1,045 metres above sea level in the Rocky Mountains. It's the largest city in the province of Alberta, which is in the southwest of Canada.

Calgary is the third-largest city in Canada, behind Toronto and Montreal when you look simply at the number of people resident within the city limits. However, Vancouver knocks it down into fourth place when you take into account the numbers resident in the wider city region.

The nearest large city is Edmonton, the capital of Alberta, which is 183 miles to the north. The other major Canadian cities are a long way from Calgary. It's 420 miles in a south-westerly direction to Vancouver, while Toronto is 1,682 miles to the southeast. Ottawa is 1,788 miles to the southeast and Montreal is 1,782 miles away.

English and French are the official languages of Canada, with English spoken as a first language by two-thirds of Calgary residents. More than 120 languages are spoken across this diverse city, with Punjabi the second most common.

The currency here is the Canadian dollar.

Calgary has direct flights from a range of European and North American airports.

Business in Calgary

Historically, Calgary's economy has been based around the oil industry and the production of beef. However, other sectors are thriving in the city in the 21st century, including financial services, life sciences, technology, oil and gas, and renewable energy. Many of the city's hundreds of start-up enterprises are in the technology industry.

Calgary has one of the highest levels of GDP per capita of any city in Canada. Median incomes are higher than almost anywhere else in the country. It also has one of the youngest populations of any major Canadian city, so a high proportion of the population is of working age.

Some of the biggest international employers in the city include Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, Morgan Stanley, Walmart, Amazon, IBM, Apple, and Shell. Many Canadian companies have their head offices here, no doubt attracted by Alberta's ultra-low corporate income tax rate.

Things to Do in Calgary

Calgary is the sunniest major city in Canada, so you can hopefully make the most of the city's outdoor spaces, especially as 99.5% of the population lives within a five-minute walk of a park.

Fish Creek Provincial Park claims to be Canada's second-largest urban park, with no less than 60 miles of hiking and cycling trails. Swimming, fishing, and birdwatching are also popular activities here. Devonian Gardens offers a beguiling mix of trees, rare plants, fountains, and fishponds. Olympic Plaza is a popular lunchtime destination for the city's business community and has an ice rink, commemorating Calgary's role as award winning of the 1988 Winter Olympics host city.

Chinatown has a superb selection of Far Eastern restaurants; while on the aptly named International Avenue you'll find many excellent examples of food from around the world, including India and Latin America.

The most famous thing about the city might be the Calgary Stampede, a huge rodeo event held here every July. Concerts and stage shows also take place at the festival site during the ten days of festivities. Calgary's nickname is Cowtown as it was at the heart of Canada's old Wild West.
