Thank you, London! We had an incredible time at our Be More Starfish – Summer Solstice Partner Roadshow on June 21. We came to express our gratitude to our amazing London partners and to celebrate their outstanding contributions.
Connected by people
The roadshow brought everyone together at the stunning venue of Sea Containers, overlooking the breath-taking views of the big city and the London Eye. It was a wonderful atmosphere with fantastic service as well as delicious food and drinks – thank you!
After some great conversations and mingling, our newly-appointed Managing Director, Rebecca Gonzaga, warmly welcomed everyone and kicked off the evening by providing updates on Situ’s exciting recent endeavours. The spotlight then turned to our new Product and Development Director, Paul Lynch, who introduced himself and delved into the exciting tech projects that the Product team is currently at work on.
We also had one of our key partners, Louise Boyse from Greengage, deliver an engaging speech on how essential it is to have sustainability in place for hospitality industries. Their expertise and insights on solutions and the accreditations process made for compelling listening.
Next, our Head of Supply Chain, Seth Hanson, skilfully guided us through an overview of Situ’s booking insights for accommodation in London. Seth shed some light on valuable data and provided us with a deeper understanding of the London market.
The Situ Award winners!
Our partners are the backbone of our success. We are truly grateful to have you by our side, and we thoroughly enjoy collaborating with each and every one of you. However, there are some exceptional partners who have surpassed expectations and who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication in Situ’s five award categories. Here are the winners!
Situ Starfish Award – Charles Hope Apartments
The Starfish Award is about our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy. It’s a clear set of promises, objectives, and actions around our commitment to sustainability, as well as social and governance measures. Here are a few things Charles Hope Apartments have done so far:
- Removed single-use plastics from their entire portfolio at every touch point, from single-use washroom items, single-use cleaning spray bottles, to bottled water in the apartments.
- Provided tea and coffee items that completely degrade within 28 days.
- Ensured that all hygiene products are completely microbead- and plastic-free, as well as organic.
- Ensured that their suppliers are living wage-approved companies.
- Arranged that by the end of 2023, all of their linen will be washed by Oxwash, the only B Corp linen provider.
- Installed solar power on roofs and implemented air source heat pumps.
- Installed energy-saving lights in all properties.
- Installed water-saving toilets at every site.
- Implementing a campaign to encourage guests to recycle with the help of Sustonica.
- Supporting a girls’ hygiene programme in Cape Town where they support 500 young girls monthly by providing sanitary products directly and assist in education around the use of the products. In addition, they support the Stars Appeal, a small charity focusing on providing support for children and families in Salisbury District Hospital, with £1 per stay going to the hospital.
- They hire on merit without any bias with regard to gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation, which has naturally produced a diverse workforce.
- They actively promote a flexible working schedule to all staff, ensuring that their family life is protected and in many cases enhanced by working at this company.
- They currently have a 50-50 split male/ female in all management roles and c suite.
