Where is Bangalore?
Bangalore (sometimes called Bengaluru) is a city in southern central India. It’s the capital and largest conurbation of the state of Karnataka. You’ll find Bangalore in the south-east of the state on the Karnataka Plateau - indeed the city is situated at an altitude of almost 1000 metres.

Kempegowda International Airport is approximately 18 miles north of Bangalore. It’s the third largest airport in India, serving almost 100 destinations worldwide. India has the largest railway network in the world. Bangalore has inter-city connections to cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kerala, and New Delhi.
The main city railway station in Bangalore is called Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna, or KSR. There are typically several departures per day on each route. As India is a large country the journeys can be very long indeed – it might take almost 48 hours to get to New Delhi.
There are also trains to local destinations such as Hassan, Hindupur, Hosur, Marikuppam, and Bangarapet; as well as to Kempegowda Airport.
The partially-underground Namma Metro system has two lines (purple and green) and serves approximately forty stations in and around the city. Trains operate every five minutes at peak hours and every twelve minutes in the evening, until around 11pm.
There are hundreds of bus routes serving Bangalore and its outskirts. The main bus station is opposite KSR railway station and is known as Kempegowda Bus Station, or Majestic Bus Station.
The city is also served by inter-city buses to Chennai, Hubli, Tirupati, Salem, Coimbatore, Pune, and Hyderabad.
