The market town of Andover lies along chalk hills on the banks of the River Anton in Hampshire, four miles east of the Wiltshire border in south-east England.
Commuting is good in Andover, thanks to a very well-connected road network. The A303 to the south of Andover meets the M3, while the A34 to the east connects with the M4.
It means the town is only around 6 miles from Whitchurch, 17 miles from both Basingstoke and Salisbury, and 22 miles from Winchester. London is 62 miles to the east. West of Andover sits the chalk plateau of the Salisbury plain – 150 square miles and currently used as a military training ground.
Andover and the rest of the Test Valley has a rich manufacturing history. The nearest airport to Andover is Southampton. This is a thirty-two-minute drive or just over an hour by train via Basingstoke. London Gatwick is nearly two hours by train via Clapham Junction.
Heathrow Airport is similar but there are changes. It’s just over one-and-a-half hours by train to Basingstoke then by bus to the airport. A car journey takes around one hour. Luton Airport is a drive of an hour and a half.
Andover Train Station is located at Station Approach in the centre of town and is served by South Western Railways. It takes 20 minutes to Salisbury, 52 minutes to Winchester and 70 minutes to London Waterloo by train,
The town’s bus terminal is on Western Avenue, which is a mere five minutes’ walk from the town centre. It’s approximately 80 minutes to Salisbury and 30 minutes to Winchester.
